A built in VU meter shows your output levels or in the Drive mode, it indicates how hard you're driving the input stage. Tailor the 710 to your needs with the -15dB pad, polar invert, and 75Hz high pass filter. Add up to 70dB of gain to your input signals with independent level and gain controls. Blend from warm and full to responsive and precise with one knob.įeaturing both a class-A FET microphone preamp with phantom power and a high impedance JFET DI input, it works with a wide range of input sources. The tone of the preamp can be adjusted from 100% tube to 100% solid-state circuitry using the Tone blending, unlocking a score of unique tones between the two extremes. The core of the preamp are phase aligned tube and solid state circuitry. I have 2 of them, for stereo recordings, and I must say that they are built like a tank and amazing sonically, from focused solid state to analog warmth tube colors, and everything in between due to this genius blend knob, this gear is a must have.Capture the sound of both tube and solid-state preamps with this unique DI/mic preamp from Universal Audio, the 710 Twin Finity. This 710 is awesome! Years and years of project development from Mr Puttnam pionner legacy thru nowadays high end UA technology. UA always give us a high quality gear for a fair price. The VU meter is a bit small, but I guess that real estate is limited given that two will fit side-by-side in a rack. The Hi-Zi on the front is way handy for those direct-in bass parts and a vast improvement over the DI box I was using (no surprise there). Using it with a tube mic, so I actually blend in a bit of the solid-state side to pull back the coloration and produce a warm, but still crisp tone.
